WHO confirms: The air pollution is carcinogenic
In a communication dated 17 October 2013, the WHO experts have officially confirmed the relationship between air pollution and the increase of cancer cases.
Thus, in 2010 alone, 223,000 deaths are due to lung cancer in relation to air pollution. The exhaust gases of diesel engines, solvents and fine particles released by industry are singled out.
In France, the cost of respiratory diseases is estimated at over one billion euros. But it is China, because of its rapid development and exploitation of fossil fuels, which seems to pay the heaviest price.
